This weekend I’m reading An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I was so excited when I got the email this afternoon that my Elibrary hold was ready to be downloaded. I’ve been waiting for An Ember in the Ashes since JUNE! It was crazy there were like 286 people waiting for it! So, I just started the book this afternoon (that’s why I’m posting so late at night :D). So far I’m really liking it even though I’ve only like read ten pages. Although, I’m really regretting borrowing the book digitally. There’s a map in the front of the book and it was so small and distorted looking that I wasn’t really able to study it. I don’t know about you guys but, when I read a fantasy book and there’s a map I always flip back to the beginning of the book to reference it. When it’s hard trying to picture the setting I usually put a bookmark in my page and look at the map. Instead with an e-reader I now have to scroll all the way back to the beginning
The point of the of the story is don’t read fantasy on an e-reader!
I do plan on reviewing An Ember in the Ashes probably in early December. I have a lot of blog tour street team activities planned for this month so I probably won’t have time to squeeze in to my schedule another review. I’m really hoping that An Ember in the Ashes lives up to it’s hype.

Ugh! Maps on ereaders are the worst! There wasn’t a map in my earc, so I missed out a little. There is a website for the book that might be of help, though. 😉

I absolutely adored An Ember in the Ashes! I read it on an e-reader too, and it wasn’t great. I really wanted to be able to study the map, but it didn’t really matter. As I was reading, I didn’t feel like I needed the map or anything. In other fantasy books, it really bothers me though! Great post ♥

I enjoyed An Amber in the Ashes, was pleasantly surprised since I was worried about it being overhyped! I read in on an ereader too and I wouldn’t worry about the map situation, I didn’t think it was all that necessary to refer back to during the course of the story. I understand your point about reading fantasy books on ereaders though, I’m always wary of a complicated map at the start haha.

Maps are the best! But it’s rough trying to read fantasy books on an e-reader. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this book. I stayed away from it when it was first released because of all the hype, but I’ve been wanting to give it a try for a while now.

I actually just got a physical copy of the book and It’s a much better reading experience. I am really liking it so far and will hopefully review it soon. You should definitely pick it up because so far, it’s living up to the hype!
