The Rose and the Dagger
Expected publication: May 3rd 2016
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Summary from Goodreads:
I am surrounded on all sides by a desert. A guest, in a prison of sand and sun. My family is here. And I do not know whom I can trust.
In a land on the brink of war, Shahrzad has been torn from the love of her husband Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan. She once believed him a monster, but his secrets revealed a man tormented by guilt and a powerful curse—one that might keep them apart forever. Reunited with her family, who have taken refuge with enemies of Khalid, and Tariq, her childhood sweetheart, she should be happy. But Tariq now commands forces set on destroying Khalid’s empire. Shahrzad is almost a prisoner caught between loyalties to people she loves. But she refuses to be a pawn and devises a plan.
While her father, Jahandar, continues to play with magical forces he doesn’t yet understand, Shahrzad tries to uncover powers that may lie dormant within her. With the help of a tattered old carpet and a tempestuous but sage young man, Shahrzad will attempt to break the curse and reunite with her one true love.
Why I am waiting for The Rose and the Dagger
The Rose and the Dagger is one of my most anticipated releases of the year for so many reasons. In fact, there are so many different reasons as to why I want to read this book that I’ve made a list.
1.The cliff hanger at the end of The Wrath and the Dawn nearly destroyed me. I mean, how could she ( the author) have done this to us, left us with that ending and then that sneak peak! It was just so unfair. I honestly sat for ten minutes staring blankly at the wall, unable to comprehend that it was over.
2. I need more Shahrzad and Khalid in my life. How am I supposed to go on living without knowing if they end up together? I have too many unanswered questions!
3. And what about Jalal and Despina what happens to them?
4. I love Renee Adiehs writing style so much and I just want to be able to experience her writing all over again.
5. I want that cover on my bookshelf! It’s so pretty!
