#Friday Reads

#Friday Reads is a weekly feature in which I will talk about the book I’m reading or am planning to read this weekend

What I’m reading this weekend

The Glass Arrow

Format: Hardcover
Pages: 336 pages
Published February 10th 2015
Publisher: Macmillan publishing

The Handmaid’s Tale meets Blood Red Road in Glass Arrow, the story of Aya, who lives with a small group of women on the run from the men who hunt them, men who want to auction off breeding rights to the highest bidder.

In a world where females are scarce and are hunted, then bought and sold at market for their breeding rights, 15-year old Aya has learned how to hide. With a ragtag bunch of other women and girls, she has successfully avoided capture and eked out a nomadic but free existence in the mountains. But when Aya’s luck runs out and she’s caught by a group of businessmen on a hunting expedition, fighting to survive takes on a whole new meaning.

Lately, I have been feeling slightly overwhelmed with all the books that I have to read and review. Granted, ignoring my ever growing TBR pile isn’t doing me any favors but, sometimes I just want to read a book for fun. Taking a break and not stressing about the type of review that I am going to have to write will really allow me to enjoy reading the book. I will be in New York today and on Sunday, so I hope to be able to read it while I’m on the train. If not I still have the rest of the weekend to finish reading.

What are you reading this weekend?

  1. I totally agree with that feeling like you choose books based on how you would review them, and sometimes you just want to read something for fun. This weekend I am in fact reading something I plan to review, but imagine my surprise when it turned out to be fun anyway: Bad Blood by Max Powers
